Hope Squad

The HOPE Squad is a peer-nominated suicide prevention organzation that works closely with Mrs. Wheeler and myself. We teach them the warning signs of suicide that is very prevelent in pre-teens and teens. If they notice these signs in their peers, they report them to us and we work closely with our school counselor to get them the help they need. We host multiple events throughout the year and we have really made an impact in the school community. I truly believe that we have helped about a dozen students that were in need of mental health assistance. Our MS group is made up of 5 students from each class (making it a total of 20 students from 5th - 8th grade) and these students were peer-nominated as strong leaders and brave/safe people to go to with heavy topics.
