The National Honor Society (NHS) applications for sophomores, juniors, and seniors are usually due in late February. If interested students have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better in January at semester, students are invited to then apply for NHS. NHS operates on the basis of four pillars: scholarship (as demonstrated by the >3.5 GPA), leadership, character, and service. As students complete the application, they should demonstrate the ways they have shown leadership (at least one should be addressed but, ideally two to three areas where you have shown your leadership capabilities). Students should also show at least ten hours of service (the more service, the better, 30+ hours). Applicants need three letters of recommendation from teachers.
The Pauquette Chapter of National Honor Society is a very active chapter. Our NHS Chapter coordinates four blood drives per year and leads many other community service projects such as the Free Community Book Drive, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, and the Neighborhood Food Drive. We welcome all students to apply who have met the GPA requirement, as the more students we have in NHS, the more service we can provide to the community.
