Central Wisconsin Young Writers' Contest
The Central Wisconsin Young Writers' Contest is a writing contest for grades 3 through 6. There are three categories in which students can submit work: poetry, personal narrative, and creative writing for grades 3 and 4, and poetry, personal narrative, and argumentative writing for grades 5 and 6. Students may submit a piece in one, two, or all three categories. The due date for submission in the School District of Poynette is Wednesday, February 1st. The district will choose two pieces in each category from each grade (for a total of 24 pieces) to submit for publishing in an anthology by the March 1st deadline. The climax of the contest is a day-long conference at the University of Wisconsin, Baraboo on May 24th, 2017. The School District of Poynette will send up to twelve 3rd and 4th graders and twelve 5th and 6th graders to attend seminars that are especially designed for 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade authors. At the conference, speakers will provide opportunities for students to expand their understanding and skills.
